Happy Tuesday evening everyone!
For those living in Australia, I hope the new School Year has started well.
We had two of the Kidlets starting back only today. The day went well and both returned home with happy smiles. The Twins get their first taste of "Big School" this Thursday when they start Kindergarten so that will be my (our) big milestone day.
There have been lots of happy things going on this past week.
1. I made a Parliament of Owlets. It occurred to me that there will be 4 identical school bags greeting me some mornings and while I was pondering how I could identify them quickly in order to stuff the bags with lunch boxes before racing out the door, I came across this gorgeous Owl tutorial. They are so cute and I thought they would make ideal Bag Charms so I made 4 of them but now secretly wish I made an extra one for me :-). The tutorial provided is super easy to follow and they are the perfect size to clip onto the side of their School Bags and the Kids are completely smitten with their little School Buddies. They come with arms if you prefer and the only other changes I made was crocheting them together instead of stitching and embroidering the eyes instead of using beads.
2. The Flowering Gums are out and are looking spectacular around the countryside. They look quite nice in my $1.99 thrifted vase and seeing the burst of orange around the house makes me happy.
3. The wallabies that I was so excited about in my previous "happy" post because they were now coming nice and close to the house are no longer my favourite animal. In the space of one evening they got into the Veggie Patch and almost decimated our entire crop completely. However, they can't dig and therefore our potatoes were saved and that makes me very happy indeed. The Kids dug up all of the above Dutch Creams and Kennebecs and we have been enjoying them almost every night cooked in different ways."Autumn Scarf". Having something lovely to knit on Thursday after I send the Twins off to School for the very first time makes me very very happy and will hopefully be the distraction I think I'll need. Now I just need to stop playing with it and wind it into a ball. Although Eleanor put it around her neck tonight and said it looked great just as it is. I think she might just be onto something there.
I hope you have a lovely week full of happy things and I'll be back at the end of the week.
