Rectification
Hello there. How has your week been so far? I'm just flitting in here quickly tonight as the In-Laws arrive on Saturday and I have an enormous amount of household rectification to perform between now and then. Oh the joy!
There are two other things I've been meaning to rectify since the beginning of time. Firstly, I finally have a new blog header, something I've been meaning to do since day 1. It's clean and simple and I really like it. I drew it with a black sharpie pen on a white piece of paper and originally I had a little house on the hill. I took a photo of my sketch but it didn't look quite right when I uploaded it. So my husband took it to work and in just a few minutes his genius of a colleague worked his magic and turned it into a png file and now it looks rather professional. He also replaced the house with the chair to match the one we have on our hill. I can put photos on the background too but for now I'm loving the new clean, white look. What do you think?
Secondly, I have been watching this sweet little Scarlet Robin flit around every day for the last 18 months but have never been able to get a decent shot of the speedy little fellow. Today I rectified this.
It's amazing how a few little things can make such a huge difference. Simple pleasures.
Whatever your plans are for the weekend, I hope it's a good one!

I love the new header, but I have to admit that for just a second I wasn't sure whose blog I had stumbled across! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat bird is so pretty. Much prettier than the robins we have here in Canada.
The header is lovely, very simple but very artistic. I'll miss the view from Coal Valley View though. Jay x
ReplyDeleteLove the header Mel... simple and clean, just how I like to keep my blog too. My header is due for a long awaited update too, along with a new profile pic :) What a sweet little bird and a gorgeous photo. Enjoy the family visit over the weekend Mel xx
ReplyDeleteFantastic shot, and fantastic header too! :) x
ReplyDeleteI do like the header. I've noticed more and more headers are being simplified. I did envy the view though, and I did like the little animal in the other one.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to get a goos shot of the baby seagull on our roof this week. It ain't happening.
Have a great time with your family.
Leanne xx
The new header is perfect ... it says everything so very simply, when you see a bench on a hill you know there's a view point(even folk who hadn't previously seen the view of Coal Valley will get it).
ReplyDeleteI love the feeling I get from a little bloggy revamp, and this is such an effective one I'm not surprised it gave you a lift.
Have a great weekend with the inlaws :)
Love the header, although I did like the other too :) It's always nice to have a change though, like when you rearrange the furniture at home. Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteit's perfect mel, i love it and would do it too if i only knew how (it's been a long time since i've made any changes, and would really like to!) your bird photo is beautiful, what a gorgeous little robin it is! have a wonderful weekend. xxxxxx
ReplyDeleteSo simple and elegant ... I love it ... Bee xx
ReplyDeleteStunning photo (and the header is great as well) of the robin - you ought to frame it. It's better than most of the professional photos of birds/wildlife you see in galleries around Salamanca.
ReplyDeleteI love your new header, simple is good!
ReplyDeleteI love the new header!
ReplyDeleteI like it clean and simple and flowy - it's perfect just as it is. Like that sweet little robin. x
ReplyDeleteI love love love your new header - it looks fabulous! xx
ReplyDeleteYour header looks great...though I do miss gazing at that beautiful valley when I arrive here! The red robin is very sweet.
ReplyDeleteLoving the header and the bird combo. Can you combine the photo into the header do you think? It's gorgeous. Love to catch up with your news in any form. cheers Wendy
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT?
ReplyDeleteI really like the white space...
I absolutely love your new header, it's very professional looking while still feeling like it's "you". Your whole blog is looking very clean and stylish and gorgeous lately, I must say. Enjoy the weekend with the in-laws. My parents have come to stay so this week was spent deep cleaning, cooking, shopping.. xx
ReplyDeleteI love it Mel, the header and the Robyn! It's perfect, nice and clean, well done. xx
ReplyDeleteLove the header. Have just started following you. Also love the photo of your past. We were going through some old photos with our girls the other day and laughing at all of them. Ah, nostalgia!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the photo
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new header
LOVE having you as my friend
xoxoxoxo
Fabulousness, my friend. Clean and clear. Love the new bio and buttons too. You crafty minx! J x
ReplyDeleteThe clean simplicity of your new header is fantastic. Very stylish love!
ReplyDeleteMade me laugh about taking a photo of your sketch because that's exactly how I did mine. Stamped a bit of paper and then took a picture of it. Very old school. Very low tech.
We have beautiful tiny blue wrens around here, but I'll be damned if i can catch a picture of one. Well done by you!

Love the new header! Very clean and simple.
ReplyDeleteLovely Mel, although I did have a slight 'aw' moment - but then I took a better look and thought, yes!
ReplyDeleteLittle robin is beautiful.
I'm sure you'll have a great time with 'the in-laws' - give them my love!
