A Good Week

Daniel is on the mend after his stint in Hospital and things are slowly getting back to 'normal' around here - thank you so much for all of your well wishes!

It feels like I've been chasing my tail for most of the week but my 'bonding sessions' with the washing basket have indeed been punctuated with plenty of things to smile about.

The Sunrises were phenomenal almost every single morning.

I celebrated a Birthday. Not a 'big' one. I'm still climbing on the 'wrong' side of 35 but as my 96 year old Grandfather says, every year around the Sun is a celebration and so celebrate I did.

I was spoilt with phone calls, flowers, chocolates and cuddles. I put a skirt on and some lipstick and had a lovely uninterrupted lunch with some girlfriends at Elizabeth St Food + Wine. I'm a Jeans, T-shirt, ponytail, no make-up kinda girl so the sight of me in a skirt prompted the Kids to take a photo of me all dress up when they got home from school.

The restaurant is conveniently located near Daniel's work so he was able to look after Flynn during his lunch break. It was a lovely catch-up with my friends and the food was sensational.

Look at my dessert!

Soccer season is underway and the boys are revelling in it.

Charles is in the under 8's and on the bigger field with more team players this year and scored 6 goals in his first match. He's getting all the moves down pat and I love watching him play. Here is one of his 'strikes', straight into the goal.

The little boys are in the under 6's and it's amazing how much they have improved since they started last year. They are in the same team and you can see their 'twin' language come into play on the field with Noah often setting up the goal and passing to George to kick it in.

I had a sleep-in yesterday morning, which in real terms means I am not sleeping but rather doing whatever I like without interruptions for an extra hour or two. Can you tell non-interruption time is a rare commodity around here?!?

I finished the little vest I started for Flynn. I was hoping to take a photo and show you but I blocked it yesterday and it is still drying so I will have to wait.

Eleanor is experimenting with her pancakes and brought the most delicious apple and cinnamon ones to my bed yesterday. Thank you darling girl.

She also whipped up some cupcakes so while the Sun was still shining we popped down to the beach for a couple of hours.

And that was my week. It was a good one, a very good one. I hope you had a lovely one too.

You look great in your birthday outfit, difficult to believe you're Mum to 5. Soccer days look like fun in such a lovely setting, especially with a kick like that! Cute vest and great that you have a little chef in the kitchen. Always lovely to read your posts Mel. cheers Wendy

  6. Dear Mel,

I've been missing out on your lovely family's action for a while. I've been away, you see. I am so glad your husband is on the mend and that you celebrated in a fitting manner your birthday. Goodness, how gloriously young you are. Believe me; at 45 I see these months slipping by so fast - as I am sure you do too - and I am glad that your busy everyday life is punctuated with magical sunrise and lipstick moments.

Happy belated birthday to you, Mel. Wishing your husband a speedy recovery.

  11. Happy Birthday! What a difference from your last post to this one. I'm glad things are returning to normal and that your husband is on the mend. I have to ask - what is that very pink birthday dessert in the picture? I see meringue on the bottom, but the pink has me perplexed. ??

  13. Hey Mel,
Happy birthday lovely girl. I wish I was still climbing past 35....
So glad to hear that Daniel is on the mend and life is returning to normal. I love watching little ones play sports. I nearly gave birth to Olly during a particularly exciting match Alfie was in.
    Stunning sunset too.

  16. What a sunrise! And belated happy birthday - you look great in your skirt and make-up! I'm fascinated by the pink creation on your plate - is it meringue, strawberry ice cream and candy floss?? Look forward to seeing a photo of Flynn's vest and those pancakes would not last long in our house - well done Eleanor.

  18. Oh, definitely a good week! I am the same with lie ins - why waste time sleeping when I can be reading with a cup of tea in bed, uninterrupted? Better than sleep. x

    1. It's odd isn't it, in the early years I used to fantasise about the day where I could actually get some extra sleeping time in but now I'm here and my preference is to use that time to do things uninterrupted #crazy x
