It's the Queen's Birthday Long Weekend here in Australia and after 2 days of serious cleaning and de-cluttering, we gave ourselves the day off today and decided to head to Mt Field National Park. We bumped into friends Nat and Jared which was a bonus and necessitated pre-hike Lattes and Hot Chocolates to brace ourselves for the 2 1/2 hour bush walk. Russell Falls were spectacular and all the Fun Guys* were out in full force too. We packed homemade chocolate cake with coconut icing to celebrate the Queen's Birthday along the track and it was altogether a pretty fantastic day. As always, the highlight for the Kids - the Swings!

Amazing photos! Looks like a magical day out!
ReplyDeleteWow. Those photos are exceptional! Looks like a magical time xx
ReplyDeleteI love the fungi! Glad that you got away from home and had such a great day after your big tidy up! xx
ReplyDeleteThose falls are spectacular! Puts all the ones around here to shame - and we have some comparatively big ones! Lovely pictures, may you have a just as productive and lovely week.
ReplyDeleteStunning pictures, Mel! And, on reading your previous post I would simply like to give you a good dose of empathy. It will come, the start of your wonderful project. We've been playing the waiting game for five years now, on a completely different matter, so I truly understand.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Stephanie
Oh Stephanie! 5 years is a very long time to wait for something!!! x
DeleteBeautiful pictures, Mel! The funny thing is, when I saw the first ones they looked like they had been taken where I live. Your "fun guys" is cute. I had a friend who used to tell her son the mushrooms that were in the food she cooked were "fun guys" in an attempt to get him to eat them.
ReplyDeleteHey Mel,
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunner of a walk. Those falls are quite beautiful.
Leanne xx
Gorgeous images! xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos!!
ReplyDeleteWe don't celebrate her birthday here in WA until the last weekend in September. She doesn't seem to mind though. Such beautiful images. I never can get a good photo of all the amazing fungi here in the gloomy forest light. Beautiful kiddos too! x
ReplyDeleteoh mel, your beautiful children, every one and beautiful photos, sounds like the perfect day! i hope to come to tasmania someday!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning photos Mel. I "like" Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service on FB, and they recently did a lovely post on the "Fun guys" at Mt Field. I bet the kids all slept well last night!
ReplyDeleteThanks Minerva - I'm going to check their site out right now. I was quite obsessed with the Fungii, there were SO many different ones. And yes, the Kids slept very well last night :-)
DeleteA-flippin-mazing photos Mel! Wowzer.

What a spot. I am so glad you remembered to toast the queen with a cake, there really just are not enough cake eating days in the year.
ReplyDeleteNo idea Sue! We always celebrate it on the second Monday in June but even some other States in Australia celebrate it in a different month. That's quite funny that we celebrate it before you ;-)
ReplyDeleteMagnificent photos Mel. I still haven't been to Russell Falls, your photos make it look magical xx
ReplyDeleteYour photos of the scenery and your family are stunning and made me smile! Sarah x
ReplyDeleteI just love fun guys, particularly chanterelles. Your children always look so happy, it as a pleasure to see them. I fondly remember exploring similarly beautiful spots when I visited Tasmania in 1997. Those tree ferns are an all time favourite. x
ReplyDeleteWow, amazingly great beautiful pictures. Ku-zu-zang-po(greetings) from beautiful Bhutan.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful photos Mel, so full of autumnal mist and soft, golden light. It looks like a brilliant day. The waterfall is really spectacular. x
ReplyDeleteStunning photos - love the "fun guys" - all of them!
ReplyDeleteCaz xx
Oh, this looks like such a great adventure! You take such amazing photos, Mel, and make such beautiful children, too. Love to see such happy smiles :) Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteA super day out by the sounds of it, and stunning photos. I'm loving "fun-guys"!
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos, looks like you had so much fun amongst all the fungi and incredible surrounds. And yey for some decluttering! You deserved a fun day out!
ReplyDeleteHow heavenly, what a beautiful place to spend a day.
ReplyDeleteWell done George, it's a great title, and what a truly fabulous place!
ReplyDeleteIt always seems odd to me that no one here makes much of the Queen's Birthday unless it has a zero attached, we certainly don't have any kind of public holiday in June.
O how i have missed your space. I have been on prac for 4 weeks and am finally back!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so magical!
p.s tell your 5 year old humourist I giggled at 'Fun Guys''.
ReplyDeleteWhat a magical spot! your photos are all so very beautiful Mel xx
