What a whirlwind 24 hours!
After hitting publish on my last Post I never expected I would be giving birth that evening.
I went to see my Obstetrician for my regular weekly appointment in the afternoon expecting him to say "see you in another week". However, a scan revealed an issue with the placenta and the baby was unlikely to continue growing as rapidly it should. It was far from an emergency but it was decided it was better to have the Baby out now while it was strong enough to get through Labour. An excellent decision as the cord turned out to be paper thin at birth and the placenta was on the small side.
I was told to be at the hospital in an hour. I was induced at 6.00pm and it was an otherwise normal and drug-free labour lasting 3 hours. It was intense and wonderful and I tried to take it all in as much as possible. It was also a posterior Labour and birth which was so much more painful than the other births. Hello stitches! However, we are both well and Flynn is perfectly fine and healthy and I couldn't have asked for a better outcome.
I was too excited to sleep last night but the 4 hours i did get were the best sleep I've had in months. The kids were little balls of excitement when they had their first cuddles this morning. Such a surreal experience. I'm now resting up and enjoying every minute of this special time with my new little Lad.
I'll be back on board soon.
