Back on my feet

Just popping in quickly to say that I am back on my feet again. Or rather, I am flat on my back with my feet at the other end of the bed but the Surgery went well and I decided to come home a little earlier  to continue the recovery at home. I have some yarn, needles, my laptop, painkillers, tea and baby Flynn all within arms reach and plenty of little helpers who enjoy playing waiters and waitresses to my water and snack requests. The Pianoman is taking care of everything here and is off work until after Easter. I have 5 tender sockets in my belly and feel and look like I've been punctured by Edward Scissorhands but, all in all, the whole thing went better than I expected. Thank you SO much for all of your wonderful comments and e-mails - they really cheered me up. You are such a lovely lot, you really are!

I will try and reply to your comments soon but for now, I have photos sitting here on the laptop of the gorgeous Miss Maggie Rabbit that I mentioned here. She is the clever design of Alicia Paulson and I am totally in love with her. I loved making every single piece of her. I showed Eleanor the Fabric choices available in the kit and she chose the Liberty "Hayoko" with Victorian Pink yarn but she has no idea what it was for or that I've made her this rabbit. She is going to be one happy girl on Easter Sunday! So much detail and so many new techniques, all perfectly explained in the pattern. I knitted her Capelet first and then sewed her Peasant Dress second. Cutting into my first piece of Liberty fabric felt like cutting into Princess Diana's Wedding Dress - it was quite stressful and no room for error. I then made up the body, with some blanket stitching, whip stitching and embroidery followed by some stuffing. Finally, and my favourite piece of all, are her boots. How gorgeous are they?! I think I would like some boots like this myself!

Now, please don't think ill of me for not whipping up another four Miss Maggie Rabbits for the boys. I'm not a Saint! Although I love making things for the love of making things, sometimes I apply a cost/benefit analysis to the things I make and I just couldn't justify the time it would take to make another 4 when I know they will go crazy over the scary Zombie Bunnies I'm crocheting them for Easter instead. Also, Alicia is planning on designing some boys clothes for a Boy version of her Miss Maggie Rabbit so I wanted to wait for those to be released, as I'm sure they will be equally adorable as Miss Maggie's outfit.

Now, I'm off to get some rest while the body does its healing work. Thanks again for all of your well wishes - I truly appreciate it!

Mel x

  15. I would really like to see a zombie bunny! Zombies are very big in our house even though I look less like one this year. Show us your zombie bunny sometime, please...
So glad all went well with the surgery and it was nothing serious. I'm tossing up whether to have more or not. It's the recovery that's harder than the actual hospital stay with a big family, isn't it?
