Rectification

Hello there. How has your week been so far? I'm just flitting in here quickly tonight as the In-Laws arrive on Saturday and I have an enormous amount of household rectification to perform between now and then. Oh the joy!

There are two other things I've been meaning to rectify since the beginning of time. Firstly, I finally have a new blog header, something I've been meaning to do since day 1.  It's clean and simple and I really like it. I drew it with a black sharpie pen on a white piece of paper and originally I had a little house on the hill. I took a photo of my sketch but it didn't look quite  right when I uploaded it. So my husband took it to work and in just a few minutes his genius of a colleague worked his magic and turned it into a png file and now it looks rather professional. He also replaced the house with the chair to match the one we have on our hill. I can put photos on the background too but for now I'm loving the new clean, white look. What do you think?

Secondly, I have been watching this sweet little Scarlet Robin flit around every day for the last 18 months but have never been able to get a decent shot of the speedy little fellow. Today I rectified this.

It's amazing how a few little things can make such a huge difference. Simple pleasures.

Whatever your plans are for the weekend, I hope it's a good one!

  1. I love the new header, but I have to admit that for just a second I wasn't sure whose blog I had stumbled across! :-)

That bird is so pretty. Much prettier than the robins we have here in Canada.

  2. The header is lovely, very simple but very artistic. I'll miss the view from Coal Valley View though. Jay x

  5. I do like the header. I've noticed more and more headers are being simplified. I did envy the view though, and I did like the little animal in the other one.

I've been trying to get a goos shot of the baby seagull on our roof this week. It ain't happening.

Have a great time with your family.

  6. The new header is perfect ... it says everything so very simply, when you see a bench on a hill you know there's a view point(even folk who hadn't previously seen the view of Coal Valley will get it).

I love the feeling I get from a little bloggy revamp, and this is such an effective one I'm not surprised it gave you a lift.

Have a great weekend with the inlaws :)

  10. Stunning photo (and the header is great as well) of the robin - you ought to frame it. It's better than most of the professional photos of birds/wildlife you see in galleries around Salamanca.

  22. The clean simplicity of your new header is fantastic. Very stylish love!

Made me laugh about taking a photo of your sketch because that's exactly how I did mine. Stamped a bit of paper and then took a picture of it. Very old school. Very low tech.

We have beautiful tiny blue wrens around here, but I'll be damned if i can catch a picture of one. Well done by you!
