Zero and Two Thirds

Flynn is 8 Months Old. Or Zero and Two-Thirds according to his siblings who need to have their ages rounded to the precise fraction of a year.

His first year is flying by at a break neck speed, a bit too fast for my liking. But then again, so is life in general.

He is now sitting up. This little development and every single new thing he does is cause for great excitement in the household with Pom Pom cheers all around. Gone are the days where I could leave him in one spot and reliably find him there 5 minutes later. He's creeping around the house Commando style,  dragging his body behind him like a caterpillar and collecting all manner of debris as he goes. We've had the "Bum-Shuffler", the "Crab-Crawlers" and the normal crawlers but he is our first "Commando" and it is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen.

He's following the rest of the family with his insatiable appetite for food and as you can see is clearly thriving in the weight department. It begs the question whether he really needs his beloved 4am breastfeed doesn't it but I'm quite happy to oblige a little longer because he's number 5 and just a little bit spoilt. The other 4 all slept through the night between 6 and 8 months so I'd hate to jinx myself but I feel we are getting closer. Surely. He sleeps well otherwise, going down at 7pm and waking at 7am. The 4am feed is a quick 5 minute affair so I really can't complain.

His favourite trick is to touch his toes and pull his strides down, roll himself over and wriggle out of them completely. He thinks this is hilarious.

Almost as hilarious as I find his little Vampire Smile thanks to his top laterals coming through the gums ahead of his top front teeth. Look!

Happy 8 Months my happy, chubby, dribbly, cheeky, most loved baby boy! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  1. Cluck, cluck, cluck! Oh, the complete cuteness. Love that he can take his pants off and looks so pleased about it. What a neat trick! Cohen was a commando crawler. All his clothes ended up with dirty patches on the tummy from where he would slide himself about the house. It seems like such hard work though, doesn't it?

Cohen was also sleeper. Emerson, not so much. At almost 18 months she is still sneaking in a feed or two of a night time, though she did sleep through for about a month. She is also a bit spoilt though... :)

  2. Oh Mel is such a gorgeous little chap and has tonnes of the cute factor going on there! Loving those little teeth popping through. I honestly didn't think I would feel broody again, but here goes, you've just done it!! I don't know how you manage with five and take my hat off to you. Sending you much love. Loving that little knitted romper suit, its fab! xoxo

  3. He looks like a cheeky chappy! And very happy too.

I've just read this while trying to ignore Alfie and Olly bickering about Robot Wars toys. How did my baby turn into a boy with very strong opinions so quickly? Spoil him rotten, Mel - they aren't little for long are they?

  5. Oh Mel, he is unbelievably adorable and what gorgeous photos... my favourites are the second last shot and the one of him looking up at the camera with his basket of blocks beside him - precious! Such a cute age. Flynn's trick of whipping off his pants made me smile as did that cheeky vampire grin. So sweet. As for the commando crawling, my girls constantly had dirty bellies from crawling that way... made me realise how terrible my floors were!! :) As for the sleeping through the night, Sophie still woke like clockwork at 2am every day until she was 10 months. With Grace, I used to give her a dream feed at 10pm on my way to bed, but with Sophie, I was so tired, I found it hard to stay up until that hour and so every night, I'd trundle down to her room for the quick feed which like you, was only 5 minutes... xx

  9. He's such a beauty Mel, gorgeous photo's to cherish. I had a commando boy, he used to roll sideways too and could never work out why he didn't get to the place he'd aimed himself at;, he only learnt to crawl properly after he was walking!

  16. OMG! I LOVE him. He is so cute. Those pants are gorgeous and his vampire grin is so cute. I have a nine month old. It's such a great age. She's learning new things everyday. She constantly entertains us with waving to herself. She also loves a bit of a groove. Whenever there's music on she waves her hands in the air like she just don't care-ya :)

  23. Oh, he is CUTE! Love the chubby arms and "bracelets" - Angus was just like that. Your photos of him are fantastic. It's great he goes down well at 7pm- I'd always rather have the quick 4am feed over the constant up and down settling and resettling all through the evening. Then you've a little time for yourself. xx

  24. You have a commando, vampire, stripper? Love it, he so full of personality and life. Oh but those baby chubby arms....swoon

  25. Yummo! He's just adorable (and I want a pair of those stripey pants for myself!) We had a commando crawler and would just crawl out of her pants all the time. In the end she lived in Onsies or she would have been half naked permanently!

  26. Hello Mel! What a gorgeous little man he is! My daughter was a commando who crawled her pants of all the time - now she just kicks her pj's pants off in her sleeping bag!! SO precious aren't they!! :)

  28. Catching up from being away. Flynn is going to be breaking hearts before he can walk! What a gorgeous baby boy. I loved it when my daughter would talk about her baby brother "when he stops being zero, he'll be a real boy!" Your kids' comments bring back those memories. :) Have a great week Mel! Wendy x

  31. What a gorgeous little man! Love the commando crawl. My newest grandson is doing that and has not interest in using his hands and knees. He gets where he wants to go! Finn is adorable.
