Karma is a Husband forgetting his Wife's Birthday which prompts the Wife to write a Blog Post highlighting the oversight and then having the name of said Blog appear in the Newspaper the very next day, further drawing attention to a situation the Husband was wanting to quickly forget (as well as prolonging his time in the Doghouse).
Thank you to everyone who sent "Happy Birthday" comments, e-mails and messages in response to my last Post.
So last Friday I received a phone call from a friend saying she saw a mention of my Blog in the Newspaper that morning. Say what?!? There was a full page article titled "Follow the Blogging Leaders" in Tasmania's Mercury featuring three lovely prominent Tasmanian Bloggers who I'm sure don't need any introduction - Angela from Kidstylefile, Michelle from Hugo and Elsa and Jane from Life on Planet Baby. It was a really positive piece that captured the essence of Blogging while highlighting the different 'types' of Blogs out there - Personal, Business, Lifestyle.
There was a box titled "Other Popular Tassie Blogs" and my Blog was listed there along with 5 other Blogs. How exciting! I was completely shocked and actually didn't know what to make of it. On the one hand the excitement of being mentioned in the paper was overtaken by the thrill of having my humble little blog that I started last year and that has just 61 followers listed there alongside the legendary Pip from Meet Me At Mikes. On the other hand I was slightly disturbed that my Blog had gone 'Public' with my last Post highlighting my forgetful Husband - "Hi, I'm Mel and I'm a Blogger and I have the worst Husband In The World!"
A lot of people I know, both friends and acquaintances, don't know that I Blog, but they do now as a result of the article. It's not a secret by any means but i just haven't gone out of my way to tell anyone. I "outted" myself to family and some friends about my Blog while we were travelling around the country so they could see what we were up to. For some reason, having people read my posts who I have never met before seems to be far less intimidating than having people I do know read them. Or is that just me?
And poor Pianoman! He will never live forgetting my Birthday down, receiving quite a bit of stick from people who stumbled onto my Blog from the article.
All is forgiven as far as I'm concerned though. Last Thursday The Pianoman started baking up a storm in the kitchen. Baking sweets is his specialty. The first batch of Macarons flopped but after tweaking his Macronage so that the tops didn't crack, he came out with not 1, not 2, but 3 different types of the most delectable Macarons all for my tasting pleasure. He is often found pursuing this gorgeous Blog for inspiration and the recipe for these babies can be found here.
He baked me Macarons. Apology well and truly accepted!
